Blanket Apology

Every clash of horns
would hurt far worse
were it not for the after words
the soothing, summarizing
he-said-she-said threads
stipple stitched and meandering
toward meaning
making a queen-size quilt
of the slights that slipped
from his two lips,
and nestling into the knowing
that he owes her
an apology.
Blanket Apology is part of a creative experiment in which I (quickly) write a poem from that day's Wordle words. This one's a bit of a cheat--but I'm going to let it stand.
